As founding director, Chris Müller and his team transformed the Tabakfabrik Linz from a brownfield site into a thriving “coloredfield” operating in the black. Following privatization and isolation, the neighborhood is now a highly frequented, open, and internationally renowned hub of innovation owned by the city of Linz—one that Forbes magazine tagged with the hashtag #glüht.
A trained carpenter and staircase builder, Chris Müller quickly switched fields; he came to public attention as the artistic director of the Theater Hausrucks, where he and his team were honored with Nestroy Awards, among other accolades.
Asbestos removal specialist, restaurateur, machine operator, rock musician, artist, factory manager, entrepreneur, real estate developer, CEO, Master of Arts, and Chief Visionary Officer of the DELTA Group – Chris Müller’s biography is as varied as the rock strata of the Hausruck lignite mining region. Having grown up there, he was shaped by mining, the harsh climate, and the code of the miners.
Drawing on his wide-ranging experience and keen insight, he now advises policymakers and the business community, with a particular focus on innovation ecosystems. He is also the founder of ATMOS Resort & Research—a project dedicated to promoting healthy air.
Among other things, Chris Müller serves on the advisory board of “CAPE10 – House of Social Innovation” and is an ambassador for the GRAND GARAGE innovation workshop as well as for the Ministry of Curiosity and Enthusiasm for the Future. He runs the lifestyle label “Urban Miner,” is the author of the book “Watch Out for the Seagulls,” and is the founder of AUTline.
He is considered a pioneer of “Digital Humanism,” played a key role in founding the first upper-level Real-Gymnasium for Digital Humanism, and, together with Abbot Reinhold Dessl, organized a three-day expedition to Stift Wilhering with people from various professions. Through this commitment, further groundwork was laid to bring more of a human touch to the digital world.
