Age with dignity

Incontinence, sex in old age, immobility, joint problems, cardiovascular diseases, muscle weakness, but also psychological and social limitations, such as depression or fear of crime and social isolation. When we talk about ageing, we usually mean a change, i.e. a deterioration in physical and mental performance. On the other hand, however, we become wiser in old age and gain more life experience. chris müller dedicated a multi-faceted, dignified evening full of poetry and music to this ambivalent stage of life. Paired with short films and a lecture. The content ranges from the cradle to the grave.
A tribute to age!

The actor Franz Froschauer sings, reads, narrates and performs. Prof. Dr. Med. Gernot Brunner (Medical Director of the LKH University Hospital Graz) provides scientific guidance. The artist Chris Müller and the visual jockey Helmut Geissler take a look at the current social discourse on ageing. Cinema trailers, films, interviews and the video platform YouTube were used as material. Georg Winkler and Urban Östlund (piano) complement and accompany the performance.

“Ageing with dignity” – the right event at the right time

“In times of austerity packages, human dignity must not be violated – Volkshilfe reminded us of this with a colorful and diverse evening on Friday, November 5, in the Helmut-List-Halle. Among the 800 or so guests: Deputy Governor Siegfried Schrittwieser, Volkshilfe President Barbara Gross, a number of full-time and voluntary Volkshilfe employees and many representatives from the social economy, culture and politics. With a mixture of YouTube videos, chanson and poetry, the artistic direction of Chris Müller (Theater Hausruck) with Franz Froschauer and Gernot Brunner (medical director of the LKH Klinikum Graz) succeeded in walking the tightrope between socio-political discourse and entertainment”
