The idea for the pilgrimage route was born two years earlier. At that time, we were commissioned by the abbey to present the study on the further development of the vicarages and the idea of connecting these places in a rosary-like pilgrimage route. This is where the idea grew, which Abbot Reinhold Dessl took up and turned into reality with companions.

Over the years and through joint projects and inspiring conversations, a friendship has developed with Abbot Reinhold Dessl that is based on mutual respect and a deep understanding of the power of visions. Whether in the joint design and implementation of the first Expedition for Digital Humanism, where we dedicated ourselves to “People and Duties in Digital Times”, or in the creation of a virtual tour through the pen, – with him, an idea always becomes more than just a thought; it becomes a movement.

The Wilhering Way is an impressive example of this. It connects the Cistercian Abbey of Wilhering with its former daughter foundation, Hehenfurth Abbey in southern Bohemia, as well as with all the churches in the Wilhering pastoral area. This cross-border pilgrimage route invites you to experience the beauty of the Mühlviertel landscape and to explore new paths and to go within yourself. It is a path that builds not only geographical but also spiritual bridges and encourages people to reflect on the essentials.

What Abbot Reinhold and his colleagues have created here is magnificent. It shows how visions can not only be imagined, but also become reality!
