07 Jun Dying brings life into death.
On two consecutive days, I had the opportunity to speak to an international audience about the life and death of brownfield sites. With me: Raffael Santi. For most people: world-famous painter of the High Renaissance. For me: a pillar saint for all brownfield developers. In the Czech Republic, we were guests in an old mill in Pardubice and in Vienna at the IMMO FutureLab in the so-called “Reaktor”.
Brownfield as a space for courage, creativity and innovation.
Brownfieldy is an international conference for the private and public sector on the revitalization of unused sites. Each year it takes place at a different location, on a different brownfield site. Each location brings new inspiration and themes. The sixth year took place in the unique premises of Automatic Mills in Pardubice and the theme is of course: Brownfield as a space for courage, creativity and innovation.
How challenging is it to implement bold, creative and innovative projects in the Czech environment? How much energy, money and time does it cost? And could it be easier? Stories about small and large brownfield projects that go beyond the usual, the biggest pitfalls of the current framework conditions were revealed. An impressive meeting of around 250 people from leading representatives of cities, municipalities and private investors and interested parties. The mill itself was a wonderful project in which sensitive revitalization, stylishly complementary architecture and appropriate presentation led to an impressive success.
Future Foundations.
The IMMO FutureLab was created with the aim of promoting future-oriented thinking in the industry, addressing new topics and offering participants a forum for exchange. Every year, the one-day innovation congress attracts around 120 industry experts to the Reaktor. The seventh meeting was held under the motto “Future Foundations – Working together to lay the foundations for municipalities and cities of the future”.
The IMMO FutureLab is known for bringing together leading minds from the real estate industry, construction, planning and urban development. This year, the event presented solutions and strategies aimed at making urban living spaces sustainable. The presentations were opened by Peter Engert, Managing Director of ÖGNI (Austrian Society for Sustainable Real Estate), and Wolfgang Kradischnig, Managing Director of DELTA Holding.
