Expedition Paternkofel

Expedition Paternkofel – The highest artistic installation in the world – somehow confirmed by the Guinness Book! 90 years after the outbreak of the First World War, a two-man expedition set out to change art history. After an eight-hour climb, the pair conquered the 2,744-metre-high Paternkofel in South Tyrol. On the foggy summit, they mounted two prefabricated wooden crosses that they had transported to the top… to the left and right of the existing summit cross, which also serves as a memorial to the mountain guide and war hero Sepp Innerkofler. The terms “reality” and “fiction” have been engraved on panels in two languages and set in relation to heroism and mountaineering fame. The result was a cinematic documentary that was reminiscent of Luis Trenker’s “Mountains on Fire”. Nature lovers, politicians, the media and the Guinness Book of Records were informed and the reactions documented. Exhibition at the “OK – Offenes Kulturhaus Linz”.
