06 Jul K for Carinthia, K for collaboration – education in the European spirit
Europe is going through tough tests in the face of global turbulence. The alliance started out as a peace project, and it is up to us to constantly renegotiate these values. We also want to bring this European spirit to educational institutions, which is why we are launching a long-term cooperation with the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences.
“Ideas need space, tools and committed people. In Linz, we have experienced a functioning system that attracts talent, helps it grow and develop. When they blossom, they enrich the entire location and a magnetism is created,” says Peter Granig, Rector of the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences. He is delighted about the collaboration, which will initially run for two years. “We want to make our location even more attractive – not only for new talent, we also want to turn Carinthians who have moved away into returnees. We have to be forward-thinking in order to have a sustainable impact.”
Siegfried Spanz, Managing Director of the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, is also convinced of this: “We have a huge reservoir of ideas, experience and talent at our university. These are important resources for a society of tomorrow that works together to find solutions. By establishing educational hubs, networks and innovation spaces, we are creating places where a bright future is generated. They become catalysts for change and offer space for joint innovation.”
We got to know each other during an educational trip to Linz at the University of Applied Sciences. A discussion about digital humanism brought us together. In an increasingly dynamic world that is challenged by constant change, it is becoming significantly more important to find sustainable solutions in order to shape a more stable future worth living in the present. But how can we ensure that we have the necessary means to support sustainable action and develop universal ideas? One possible answer lies in the mindset of sustainability and the associated pantries. The coveted raw material for a future in which we want to live well and happily is called “creativity”. Machines and artificial intelligence can do a lot for us, but they are far from being creative. That is why it is always important to ask the right questions. Because humanity’s answer is the question!
K for childhood
My team and I have been researching the success criteria for attractive innovation and education locations for years. We have distilled the “13Ks”, which range from collaboration and capitalization to constellation. Now we are adding K for Carinthia. Carinthia has wonderfully inspiring places, an opulently stimulating nature. Why is there no lecture hall in a ski hut or lectures on Lake Wörthersee? Rector Granig, Managing Director Spanz and his team are people with a great mindset in management who are consistently looking to the future. That’s why I’m delighted to be able to support them here. We lay important foundations through education – this can decide the weal and woe of generations! I myself spent a large part of my childhood in Carinthia, which is why this job is particularly close to my heart.
