Panel discussion ICT-Austria “Technology changes everything – How can people, companies and politics remain capable of acting?”

Cloud 21, a well-chosen place to look at the state of the world together. The Saturn Tower as a kind of high perch to recognize what is approaching on the social horizon. A 360° crow’s nest to look around us and into us.

The events of recent years have marked a turning point in the sprinting history of mankind! The pressure of events was and is enormous.

It breaks all boundaries and is not a media invention, not a coincidence, neither the devil’s work nor God’s contribution.

It was and will be the course of history, accelerated by the dynamics of the markets, disruptive global politics, a changing climate and all-pervasive new technology.

Digitalization serves as a tool and lubricant for a time just beyond the present. It is a technological revolution that is fundamentally changing the way we live, work and interact with each other.

In its scale, scope and complexity, this transformation will be an unprecedented experience.

We don’t yet know exactly how it will unfold, but one thing is clear: the response is all-encompassing and concerted, involving all stakeholders in the global community, from the public and private sectors to academia and civil society.

Where is the human being in such an agitated and troubled world?

What role is it expected to play in the new century?

How do we want to live?

How do we create the much-needed confidence and spirit of optimism in our country, our cities and our towns?

How will our companies fare in this titanic transformation?

How can we continue to make Europe, Austria and Vienna an attractive location?

I was able to discuss these and other questions at a wonderful event at a lofty height and with an outstanding panel.

Clever answers and interesting thoughts from City Councillor Barbara Novak, State Secretary Sepp Schellhorn, Dynatrace co-founder Sok-Kheng Taing, corporate thinker Thomas Welser and University Professor Dr. Markus Hengstschläger.
