Von Leopold Paur, court and court advocate in Vienna, was born in Altenburg in 1735. In 1784, he published the plan of his city vision.
The city in a dream is a bold vision of a city planned according to geometric principles. The clear, uncluttered design is reminiscent of some of the ideal plans from antiquity, the Renaissance or French revolutionary architecture.
This city was to be located in the area between Horn and Altenburg and would welcome people from all continents. This utopia of peaceful coexistence is a rare testimony to a philanthropic, cosmopolitan and tolerant approach to life.
