The real places

A flock of seagulls shows me the way – to blind spots on the globe, to stretches of land that have never been mapped by any cartographer. “These are never the real places,” writes Herman Melville in his novel “Moby Dick”.

I embark on a search for germ cells that hold the potential to steer the course of the world in new directions, for magical settings for creativity and innovation. I have always been driven by the desire to unravel the mysteries of the evolution of these “true places”. What prepares the ground for ecologies in whose haze and dawn something completely new emerges? Where can the unseen be seen and the unheard heard? Where is the unborn born?

In the world of start-ups, there is sometimes talk of early stage investors. This refers to venture capitalists who take a particularly high risk in startup financing by investing in very young companies. The target companies do not yet have to generate any significant turnover, but are characterized by their promising business idea, their founding team and high return expectations. Like trackers, they interpret signs that they believe will lead them to the holy grail.

Like early stage investors, I want to find out why and where mysterious, powerful ecologies are brewing, what makes interesting places, how to create them, build them, stimulate them, design them wisely and maintain them carefully.

BETA Industries

With whom does it begin? Which paths lead to these “true places” that cannot yet be found on any map? Can you read the tracks to Eldorado? Are there similarities? What distinguishes and connects them? Are there suitable tools, detectors, seismographs, sextants, apps, clues, signs, words, rituals or identifying features? Can you “smell land where there is no land yet?”, to paraphrase the prophecy of the mad Elijah from the whaling epic Moby Dick?

Building huts 2.0

The answer is yes. CMb.industries GmbH has developed methods and tools to identify hubs and incubators, places of education, new work, research and enlightenment at a nascent stage. And then, with partners such as DELTA Gruppe, to promote, implement and operate them. Places of innovation and places of production that will decide the weal and woe of generations.
