24 Oct BEYOND BUILDING the sixth
The sixth edition of the BEYOND BUILDING event organized by the Department of Disruptive Disciplines (DDD) showed how collaborative partnerships work. Department of Disruptive Disciplines (DDD), which hosted the event in the NOVA ZONE together with the DELTA Group. Numerous guests from Vienna to Vorarlberg as well as from the Czech Republic and Germany accepted our invitation to Tabakfabrik Linz to meet people from the fields of architecture, design, philosophy, digitalization, politics, art and the construction industry.
Collaboration of the kapazunder.
I was extremely pleased to host this event and to share the stage with experts in their
genre, thus continuing my search for “true places”. Colleagues from Ars Electronica Solutions, Delta Pods Architects guided me through the expedition on the topic of “Architecture and Real Estate Dramatization”, Responsive Spaces and CMb.industries.
avant-garde in the nova zone.
City Councillor Dietmar Prammer also attended as a friend of the department and addressed words of welcome to the audience from the fields of architecture, construction and industry. He also emphasized the targeted expansion of the offer to the NOVA ZONE (NZ). In future, the DDD will form an ensemble with the NOVA ZONE and offer an avant-garde program. This is thanks to Managing Director Werner Arrich, who, together with me as curator, is steering the presentation of the venue in new directions.
“The NOVA ZONE is an enabling space and starting point for creating positive future worlds. Its offers and programs are aimed at companies that want to work towards a common goal with courage and optimism and with the right cooperation partners. I see this as a benefit for the city of Linz and an important step towards positive development for society as a whole!” said SR Dietmar Prammer in his speech.
Voyage with Strapace.
I was also able to welcome Bernd Waß among the guests. This doctor of philosophy and co-founder of the I got to know and appreciate the School of Philosophy during its summer academy in Tuscany. Philosophical programs are also being planned for Linz.
As the afternoon progressed, the impulses provided a lot of interesting material for future projects. During the event, I myself shared my treasure trove of stories on the dramatization of real estate and places with the audience, before handing over to the impulse-givers. An excerpt from the repertoire:
artistic polish.
We heard how Ars Electronica Solutions uses artistic and digital installations to stage real estate, museums and hotels. Isabel Schölmberger and Chris Bruckmayr gave us a deep insight into their project world. These included the staging of the opening ceremony of the voestalpine stainless steel plant in Kapfenberg, which was realized the day before, or the Austria Pavilion in Dubai, which was created in a renowned network as part of the World Expo 2020.
sustainable architecture.
In his keynote speech, Klaus Ransmayr, CDO of Delta Pods Architects, presented sustainably planned building worlds, some of which have already become reality. BOKU Vienna, for example, blends into its environment like a second forest. The building consists of 78 percent wood, a renewable resource. The mass used for this grows back in the local forests in just 16 minutes.
digital branding.
Markus Pargfrieder, Managing Director of Responsive Spaces, showed how digital brand worlds can be brought to life. He provided inspiring ideas on how the brand of companies can be considered and embedded in the architecture through technical refinements.
The philosophical snacks were easily digested over culinary delights and after the talks, the NOVA ZONE offered guests the opportunity to discuss what they had heard in more depth, get to know each other and bring the intensive day to a close together.
